Yes we went back to Mexico for our 2nd Anniversary! We left on Sunday May 16 and came home Thursday May 20.
It was a MUCH needed vacation that couldn't have come at a better time but at the same time couldn't have come at a worse time! It couldn't have come at a better time because we hadn't been on a vacation in 2 years, because we had our daughter in April the year before and we didn't feel comfortable taking our newborn daughter anywhere that summer. We missed Briley so much while we were away! I felt like the only thing we really talked about was her and how much she would love the beach! However, I will say it was nice to get away with just the 2 of us, but I couldn't imagine being gone any longer than we were!
It couldn't have come at a worse time was because we were in the middle of renting our house. The tenants were going to be moving in less than 2 weeks after we returned from our trip. We had already been to work on the house and to get everything moved out 3 full weekends prior to the 1 we took off that month (we took off the weekend before we left for our trip). So the day after we returned from Mexico, we headed back to Nashville to work on the house yet again. They ended up moving in the Saturday before Memorial Day so we went back that last time to do some finish touches and to give them their keys. WOW! That was alot of traveling and very exhausting! When it was all said and done, we would have much rather 1) had the house totally done before we left or 2) taken the trip after it was finished. But of course when we booked the trip we still had the house on the market hoping it would sell.
Now back to the fun stuff...the trip was amazing. We ended up going back to the same all-inclusive resort we went to for our honeymoon because we loved it so much! http://www.eldoradosparesorts.com/hotels/el_dorado_royale/
One of the best parts about this resort by far is the fantastic food! Michael and I love to eat so it suits us perfectly. Literally the only thing we could think about weeks before we left were the mini chicken tacos, nachos, omlettes, salsa, and sushi that we loved last time we were there. We discovered several other dishes/resturants that we hadn't tried last time that were amazing as well...lobster lasanga, Cocatal, buffalo chicken wrap, mango chicken, just to name a few!
This time the resort was only at 50% capacity, last time is was at 100%. I definatly like it better when there aren't as many people there just because it seems like everyone was more personable this time around. We got to know several couples while we were there, unfortunatly we can't remember any of their names! lol
I am horrible with names!
We opted not to go on any excursions this time and to just stay on the resort. Last time we took a cab into Playa Del Carmen and did alot of touristy things but we found that to be a waste of money. It was neat but we are perfectly fine with laying out/swiming all day and eating all day/night in between! I highly recommend this resort to anyone!
I think probably the only negative was that it rained almost everyday while we were there. But weather is not something you can predict when planning a vacation. I also feel like we should have stayed one less day or one more day. I felt like the last day we were there was sort of a wash because thats the day it rained the most. Mexico would make for a great long weekend trip too because it is only a little over a 2 hour flight from Memphis, which is awesome! I think next time we go, we will go for a long weekend and maybe invite some friends! Here are some photos of our amazing vacation!
